IMO, worse than the content is this broad form of pedagogy, dominant in public schools: the conclusion is supplied, and the student's task is to provide evidence solely in support of it. This is completely indefensible as education, regardless of the subject matter.

Yup, this was exactly how it was in my classes. We were told that certain media was dangerous and "problematic" and the assignment was to argue in support of that, not to debate it.
