Specialization/markets-for-everything created an *explosion* of interfaces -- social, procedural & experiential/interactive -- but conflicts can almost always be brought to the social layer. Bad UI becomes a bloated tech support dept, bad procedure becomes e.g. office politics
It's not just modernity; it's a social animal thing. It's why the big triangle "chasing" the little triangle is "mean." When in doubt, port to the social layer and resolve there. Eventually you will stop Mean Girls-ing the terminal, but not until it fundamentally wrecks you
