Is a solid, econ-literate discussion of Elizabeth Warren's "economic patriotism" proposals happening anywhere? To my untrained eye it looks like a semi-opaque nationalization scheme, but I don't know enough to feel confident that I can keep my eye on the ball
Specifically, I'm confused/concerned by: 1) The "Green Manufacturing Plan," which seems to have the federal gov commissioning a huge volume of products, many for export 2) The lambasting of American companies, multinationals & global capital in the initial Medium post
"Where's the nationalization?" The GMP calls for enough contracts in clean energy to create ***1 million jobs.*** For comparison, there are ~2.1M fed gov staff total. Gov would select/resell/export huge product volumes. Would totally warp (if not destroy) the private industry...?
Some folks must assume the federal government will do a pretty good job of running a centralized energy industry, especially if they're throwing stacks of cash at it. I am *way* skeptical. I'd choose a much smaller pool of funds with better incentive alignment any day of the week

@Noahpinion is a solid economic commentator and is a Warren stan.
She is piggybacking on the concept already used by Obama in 2012, while contrasting it with Trump's 'economic nationalism' (focused in anti-immigration). Her focus instead is green manufacturing through a new Department of Economic Development, looks like a sound proposal.
tbh her proposal looks very Trumpish. In particular, I found her commentary on American companies with "foreign investors" disconcertingly alarmist
Politician with no business experience (apart from flipping real estate) vows to personally take the rudder for most business activity in America because the greatest wealth-creation system in human history has made politicians mostly irrelevant - and that must change.

As an Indian who has seen enough nationalisation in his country, none of her proposals look like nationalisation at all. Not sure how to articulate it in a proper, argument manner though
