I wonder if they would feel different if the discussion was about someone doing worm work in the Dakota oil fields and flying back to see their family every chance they could.

I only have empathy for the oil worker and flight commuters. I feel bad $300k affords bad housing and fieldwork isolates. However, the original tweet identified bad land use and bad carbon use by treating long drives and flights as the same. I objected but in an offensive? way(?)

My wife and I made the move to Vegas from the Bay Area for similar reasons. She flies back and forth a couple of times a month, and we've been able to make it work ok. No sympathy needed but not an uncommon choice.
