The problem of per article is that the friction of deciding to pay is high. And, if you make it low enough, you'll be deciding based off the wrong thing like a headline. Or, you just buy things written by people you respect, in which case.. subscribe to them.
I'm generally deciding to read an article because someone I respect or find interesting shared it. I assume this is a pretty common thing among heavy twitter users
But would that person have found it if it was (individually) paywalled?
