When you look at yourself, do you congratulate yourself and say “my, I was scrappy?” Or do you say, “wow, I got lucky?” Which one promotes arrogance?

Actually it’s not. It’s directly related to the frames we see ourselves and others, which is directly tied to our belief in free will, which you seem to still retain
