Determining what backgrounds are both broad and compatible sounds like an interesting challenge. Could this approach lose out on the depth of knowledge/experience each traditional teacher has in their field (in theory)? Barring that it seems like a great strategy.

Fair enough - raising the baseline depth and engagement of our educators is definitely another big challenge regardless of the system. Ultimately I agree that "checked out parents" is a huge roadblock and this system seems like a great move to counter that.
