Also, while I probably have fewer issues with abortion than most people on this thread, I see major upsides to a world where women facing an unintended pregnancy can rest assured that if they give birth, their lives won't be ruined & they'll have what they need to be a good mom

I'm off on a tangent here, but it seems to me that in the interest of being "big tent," e.g. with anti-natalists, a lot of pro-choice folks don't talk about what a horrific thing it is that so many women abort not because they want to, but because it appears the only real option

I wouldn’t call this a steelman- at all- but I read stuff like that as emotional spillover from eg. the conservative take on college debt forgiveness. It’s an expression of an emotional approach to the world from someone who’s thinking in abstract terms, not human ones.
