I think "we have lots of weapons and we're a willing puppet for arbitrary monied interests" is a pretty bad pitch for increasing the relative power of government
True, but doesn't address the truth value of the claim. There's a widespread perception that Cheney and others stood to benefit from the war, and so they lobbied for it. (A charitable version would be that they were subconsciously inclined to support it.)
