Instagram is higher-res in certain ways, but lends itself to particular varieties of subterfuge, e.g. arranging experiences that *appear* expensive/exclusive. Depth of thought is hard to fake to the sort of audience that cares about it. The book is usually better than the movie

But, like... if you don't think an interesting life can be lived largely inside your own head, I get it. If I were active on insta, ~half my posts would be book excerpts. There are full days where I do almost nothing but read, think & walk around the neighborhood in a semi-trance
