Will share when I get to my laptop. I don't know that I'd dismiss an effect altogether, but it definitely looks in the realm of "a small handful of suicides are possibly attributable" at most, and I don't think that's the takeaway most folks are getting
I also couldn't find any monthly data at all (I only looked at CDC WISQARS and WONDER). FWIW, the yearly data shows a clear up trend for all groups but particular 10-14 & 15-19, with 2017 being the highest. Also the homicide rate did not trend up as the researcher noted
You made my day. I appreciate knowing there are people who actually look into reports...knowing there is a reproducibility problem.
Someone in the comments of/r/science pointed out it looked like p-hacking. Multiple cohorts tested, only reported the results for one of them.
