Westerners now have such a reflexive tendency to associate *having society-level preferences at all* with a rapacious colonialism that they'll sometimes bite any bullet, defend any form of oppression or social disease not sourced from themselves. Wrong axioms, horrible conclusion

The crucial point is that having & insisting on *good* community- and society-level preferences — ones that broadly err toward liberty & human welfare — is what enables groups to accept people who are *otherwise* quite different from current members without anxiety & resentment
