The problem is that 'diverse' has been radically usurped and recommissioned to infer that people who have the same skin color or gender are in some way similar in values, background, skillset, or goals. Some things cannot be measured in such simple minded ways.

The problem is the marxist inspired politics that sees issues of discrimination not as individuals having prejudice against other individuals, but as groups oppressing other groups. In this ideology, an individual member of an oppressive group cannot be also oppressed.

If women are less inclined to be engineers and groups want to be diverse because there is value in it then there will be more competition for women engineers. why should managers not get paid more if they can figure out how to do this.

Need less dialogue about diversity and more about the actual job. Good engineering = night sweats, 60h wks, supplier and team fuckups, experimental failures, missed deliverables, clueless "leaders", global engineering teams. Pay can be very good but it's not for everybody.

Best engineers > establish order where there's none, good decisions derived from weak, no or conflicting data, see "clusterfucks" as opportunities, leverage mistakes, always have "plan B". Good in math, academics is icing but not requisite. That they do not say.
