I think we probably underestimate the extent to which seemingly negligible friction erodes working memory, and the extent to which even small gains in working memory might enable *qualitatively different* thinking

That's why larger screens or two screens can make such a difference. Less demands on working memory and fewer context switching moments. That was part of my justification for getting a 27" 5K monitor, anyway...
