The part where "the pain of being denied gender recognition" is explicitly acknowledged alongside a drawn out argument that gender bias can be made to disappear via wordplay. Either "gender" is pointing to something meaningful and persistent, or it isn't.

Yeah, debating this stuff with the people who push it on twitter seems Sisyphean. My real world strategy is just to be kind to people, and works pretty well so far. As far as the idea’s infiltration into academia, it seems dumb but far from the most serious concern
