Re SpaceX: I've only ever had a dry, abstract appreciation for what they're doing. But this video gives me visceral awe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBlIvghQTlI … Shows how fast the rockets are coming in and how much power/control are needed to stick the landing. Recommend watching with sound

Go see one!
The 'visceral awe' in person is profound. Launch snaps you into an almost involuntary meditation. Scope and scale are zoomed way out for some time after. I would fucking love it. You’ve probably read this before, but in case not, it’s a treat: Penn Jillette on watching a Space Shuttle launch: http://symftr.tumblr.com/post/5987695109/nasas-successful-quantifying-of-comedy-timing-by …pic.twitter.com/z11HDwNwIV

FWIW, you can just *go* to launches at the Cape! People gather all along the waterfront to watch the big ones. My Uber driver even parked and joined me on the grass for FH. :) Kennedy Space Center also sells limited special event tickets for those who want to get closer.
