One of my big shocks was to learn from a friend who attended [Ivy League uni] that no one is ever kicked out even if they don't study bc that would ruin the uni's ratings. So basically you get accepted, your'e good.

Are there LinkedIn profiles with "accepted but did not attend" in the education section yet? That will be the real evidence.

I'd like to see a variant of 'Thiel Fellowships' that are not an offer to best-of-best (yet another level of selectivity), but a randomized experiment on those admitted but willing to accept a bribe to forgo enrollment in any selective schoolhttps://twitter.com/gojomo/status/1110307244703272965 …

An acceptance letter probably holds a large % of the value added from attending a top university. I can't wait for the market to tell us how big that % is.

"Acceptance letter" isn't quite parsed as a qualification yet, but I know people who've deliberately attended one semester and then left because, in the right circles, "Stanford dropout" signals 80% of what "Stanford graduate" does.

Funny how "Stanford" can be an adjective or adverb. "to drop out, Stanfordly"
