discord - no threading - free history (scroll as far back as you want) - voice channels = speak to people w/o limitations (afaik) slack - threading - limited history at paid tier hangouts - limited to 10 people at free tier - quality dips at 4-6 people

The search is actually really good, being able to copy links to messages is nice, and pins are essential for me, never used slack tho
