In case it's not obvious, I don't think IQ is the be-all, end-all of good hiring, but I do think it's something employers care about & a more egalitarian metric than the proxies they have to use now (e.g. fanciness of educational background)

Does IQ correlate strongly enough with real-world performance for it to be a viable metric? Isn’t past projects, even if done in a basement for practice, a much better and easier to implement metric?

IQ correlates well w/ certain kinds of ability that are broadly useful in white collar work at the population level, but lacks precision at the individual level. IMO: it's a useful early filter, but it would be dumb to base decisions on IQ by the time you're looking at portfolios

And yep, I think it's just short of criminal that we rob teens of valuable time they could be using to work on stuff that would both help them develop a sense of their interests *and* demonstrate a wider range of abilities to potential collaborators
