So helping people learn to program and get a high paying software engineering job is really, really difficult. Anyone making that seem easy is selling something and in for a world of hurt.

It is difficult to replace. Interviewing costs a lot of money. Increasing the time burden on engineers is bad. Many questions that might bring more insight are very time consuming.

the thing is that I've only actually interviewed for a tiny handful of jobs at major tech companies, and from my perspective those processes were so mismanaged that I started to seriously consider the VC bubble hypothesis on that basis alone
