So helping people learn to program and get a high paying software engineering job is really, really difficult. Anyone making that seem easy is selling something and in for a world of hurt.
I have a sense that interviewing for junior devs, undersupplied as they are, is basically designed to be a multi-month trauma gauntlet for the sort of odd ducks who love coding... but every time I'm like "hey, this appears to suck," people I respect defend the trauma gauntlet

Not only junior devs. Most of my recent PM and EM interviews (and even the few senior dev interviews) I’ve done all fall into this bucket.
