So helping people learn to program and get a high paying software engineering job is really, really difficult. Anyone making that seem easy is selling something and in for a world of hurt.
I have a sense that interviewing for junior devs, undersupplied as they are, is basically designed to be a multi-month trauma gauntlet for the sort of odd ducks who love coding... but every time I'm like "hey, this appears to suck," people I respect defend the trauma gauntlet

Reminds me of questions that kept bugging me since seeing 'Whiplash' - and having heard all the horror stories from my family re: entry exams for Budapest Academy of Drama. Designed to be mortifying rites of passage.... Like do people like/seek these out?
