Great, but if they want to remove the gatekeepers (which is a perfectly sound thing to do), they cannot do that by simply absolving themselves from the responsibility those gatekeepers took on. Innovation is only real if it can deal or break out of existing constraints safely
Whether you think viable self-publishing is worth the (currently) unavoidable proliferation of bad info along w/ the good is up to you — maybe it’s OK if only mainstream or mainstream-adjacent ideas are available via major distribution channels. I’m just pointing out the tradeoff

I hadn’t thought about the tradeoff tbh - thanks for bringing it up. A tradeoff only really applies if it’s an either/or though, which I am not convinced is the case here. Seems like some moderation can help at scale and would serve many, might already be happening.
