One of the great invisible divisions in tech culture is between people who had to be scrappy & people who were born onto the Stanford track. This difference shapes clashes between key players on accessibility, merit & the social responsibilities of the industry at every level
I don't think the concern is that Stanford graduates aren't sufficiently hard workers; more that they use phrases like "high expectations" and "excellence" without realizing that those contain zero actual content
I meet people who think in a very linear fashion about entrepreneurship. They rationalize a lack of adaptive capacity and feel entitled to a structure that just isn't there....AFAIK their 'high expectations' are the wrong ones.
...and their startup failed.
