US fertility rate is at a 30-year low
CA ranks 41st in the country for births (2017) & keeps falling
...and San Francisco County ranks dead
last
for births in the state
I love you SF, but you are a massive fertility trap.https://twitter.com/eiaine/status/1099564413495857153 …

Having a series of failed relationships with 25-27 year olds over the past few years, the idea of dating an 18 year old makes me want to run away screaming.

The kind of psychology that compels adults to date people over whom they have a massive power differential — teenagers— is def a setup for a healthy relationship.

Oh interesting. I was expecting Woody Allen as the rebuttal of this happily ever aftering out. Unexpected twist.

That's ageism both ways: The young aren't weak & the old aren't power hungry. Gramps way older than Grams; Dad 27 yrs older than mom; me 17 yrs older than wife -- all in my family started succesful businesses after such partnering.

The broader societal perspective on age is horribly unhealthy. Younger people should expect & insist on being treated with respect; older people shouldn't be assumed to approach the young from a place of ruthless self-interest, nor should they expect deference

There are surely exceptions that prove every rule, but ppl who consistently pursue people they are old enough to have conceived but who are not legally old enough to drink at their own wedding is also not a result of something super healthy.
