I agree and love this take (great answer to Peter’s fave question btw) but why older men? Shouldn’t this apply to both men and women? If I had to do it again, I would have had kids at 18 or 22.
I assume the idea is that it's preferable for the man to have time to develop a stable medium- to high-income career so the household won't necessarily be inexorably dependent on two full-time incomes But I think there are a lot of good reasons for men to have kids younger, too
I personally think that a lot of the reduction in male labor force participation in recent years is due to this. Having to provide for a family makes men work way harder
FWIW, there is a roughly 0.1% chance I’d marry someone that young when in my late 20s or early 30s. The mismatch in life experience and maturity would make it extremely difficult to find someone who plays the true partner role. Also, tbh, it would feel quite pedophile-y to me.
You should definitely not marry anyone you're not attracted to, but with all due respect: individuals are not fungible. 18-year-olds are not children and not all of them behave as though they are. Your preferences don't imply facts about other human beings.
