Misinterpretation re: the kids; I'm noting that public executions as a community spectacle = exactly the kind of banal evil that tends to manifest when fear/outrage overwhelms pro-social tendencies & viciousness becomes virtue. This isn't about philosophies, this about sadism.

If you're the sort of person who'll call up a stranger's boss and explicitly lie in an attempt to sink their career... I have no trouble imagining that you'd watch another ("bad") man's head literally roll under social conditions that put that inside the moral Overton window
