As a kid, I’d sometimes lay flat on my back at the top of the stairs and bend my neck back over the top step, looking toward the back wall with the world upside down. I’d imagine the floor was the ceiling & vice versa, then swing around from the dangling furniture in my mind
I was testing the edges of my cognitive sandbox, seeing how real I could make the unreal. I still do this stuff! Sometimes when I go to the grocery store, I pretend the entire world has been body-snatched & I have to pass as a completely typical fake human to make it out alive
Letting your imagination run is great, but the advantage to using the real world for props is that it’ll then serve as a visceral reminder that even your default interpretation of how things work is a kind of make-believe — it’s adaptive, it’s functional, but it’s still a story
If the ceiling was low enough (on the low part of a slanted ceiling) you could sometimes plant your feet on the ceiling and pretend you were standing at the top of a ramp, ready to slide down

i used to do something similar. kept doing headstands against the wall to try and walk on ceilings (i was gravely disappointed that it didn't work)
My favorite was to stand above, and look down into full length mirror on the floor. What it was doing on the floor I never figured out, but man was it great for creating a scary deep hole with CEILING as floor. Fantastic!
I did that too. Also whenever I was in a car I imagined this little motorcycle guy would ride on the median or guardrail alongside the car and I’d have to jump him with my mind over light poles or telephone poles or any other “obstacles” along the side of the road.
