This is yet another case where it would be useful to ask the person making such a claim 'What evidence would lead you to change your mind?' 98% of the time, they have no answer.
There’s maybe a little more traction with “how would the world look if not-x?” People are often so used to fighting the good fight via creative conceptual cartography that they’ve forgotten any of this was supposed to correspond to *anything* in the actual world
