Right, why not just give new parents paid leave the first year? Why not give a stipend to businesses with on-site childcare facilities? I can think of a ton of better things to do than this.
FWIW I think the world would actually be a noticeably better place if childcare + parenting in the workplace were normalized, and both kids & parents knew they were physically near one another throughout the day. This sterilization of early child-rearing is super messed up
…and if employers weren’t so hung up on a M-F,9-5 schedule. My wife and I have been fortunate to be able to work out schedule flexibility with our employers so that we can both continue careers and parent young kids. But many potential employers wouldn’t even entertain the idea.
Remote work is definitely a strong approach to working and parenting, too. It makes me sad that Rosa has to leave her infant at all.

Parenting, childcare, teaching, apprenticeships, internships, job shadowing. Could be normalized — assuming adults can possibly stand it, stay happy and productive, not say "ah I'm not a kid person". I agree. Government has enough influence over our kids, I wish parents had more. The acceptance of handing kids off to daycare workers just so parents can work to afford the daycare is startling.
