I think Uber is a large scale scam that happens to work just well enough. I have never understood why municipalities don't band together into a class action lawsuit to sue Uber into oblivion for destroying the value of Taxi Medallions.
Because taxi medallions enable economic rents justified by the negative externalities of unregulated taxi services, but that far exceed the value of those externalities.
