That makes sense, and I vaguely remember something in Zero to One about how high CEO salaries kill companies. But (and maybe it's just me) I feel like at least having a place to oneself would allow for better concentration and company performance.

I guess my point is that we tend to look at various wealth signals as progressive improvements toward some distant general peak human experience; in reality, some prefer to live alone & some don’t, & most leisures that seem inaccessible are overrated or illusory
