I think this is one of those things that might be partially explained by different people having different “victim profiles”, ie some people are much likelier to be victimised than others

Possibly, although frankly — I’ve been followed home by a guy shouting at me; I’ve been groped, pushed around; I’ve had a cab driver refuse to let me out w/o my phone number. These situations freak me out, as they probably should. Guy passing me in supermarket? NOPE.

uhhhh maybe if dudes at grocery stores never stood inches away from me, closing the space any time i moved, this wouldn't be the case? im not a quivering lamb because i have experience-informed physical awareness yo. and i didnt start it.

maybe mentioning "fear" in the original thread was overkill, but not being alert to people in my vicinity, honestly regardless of gender, is unimaginable to me. curious what sort of village you live in where strangers never accost you.
