The physics room thought experiment
I tell a college student: “Perpetual motion machines violate the laws of thermodynamics.” He repeats that back to me. Does he *know* it? I do the same to a 6-year-old. He repeats it. Does he now know it? I do the same to a parrot. Do you suppose I’ve just taught a bird physics?

if he tries to build a perpetual motion machine then he doesn't and if he doesn't then he might. knowledge is models of the world that predict outcomes for actions, what people know determines how they act
