Sorry, the idiocy of multiple-choice tests is just so my thing that I had to dig into... what would you call it? "Proof by SAT test prep advice"? I cede that *only* the great majority of the countries with recent wealth tax schemes abandoned them. Your prize is in the mail.pic.twitter.com/pOd4JmPN0J

Fair enough, but wealth taxes aren't the only way to ensure that Warren Buffet doesn't pay a lower percentage than his secretary. The real question is: do you cede the point that extreme income inequality has become a national security threat (not to mention an ethical failure)?

National security threat? No. IMO, inequality is a red herring: if everyone had the resources to live reasonably well & to not be trapped by geography or lack of training/education, it'd be fine if the rich doubled their wealth. It's the quality of life at the bottom, not the gap

Yeah, I don’t buy the fearmongering. For one thing, in countries terrorized by the wealthy elites, I personally wouldn’t expect to see a major party catering desperately to a populist movement built around taxing the wealthy out of existence. Think for literally one minute.

And here's Western Europe, somehow magically surviving draconian policies that are resulting in the absurdly ruinous state of lower income inequality:pic.twitter.com/6M06iDKAlL

Well, thank god for that! Hurry, you should get going before the rich try to prevent you from leaving this desolate hellscape. No, don’t look back — I’ll hold them off for as long as I can, GO!

An non-substantive rebuttal, but that seems to be the norm here, so at least you get points for consitency.

For the record, I have no idea what I'm meant to be rebutting. Literally all you did was post a couple graphs showing that wealth inequality is lower in western Europe than in the US. Did you forget to correlate that to something positive...?

Truthfully, many parts of Europe and many parts of the US are fine places to live, depending on what you want to be doing. If you want to be working on innovative ventures, the US is the place to be. But there's more to life, you do you

hahahahaha, Davos. yeah okay — they made up their own scale based on "the five sub-pillars" of "the innovation ecosystem" (you cannot make this up) and awarded points as they saw fit. And the winner is... Germany! On output, by any measure... no.pic.twitter.com/HPwMleEWGB

Gates says tax policies should focus on taxing wealth rather than income since the super rich tend to have more of their wealth tied up in assets instead of income. https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/12/bill-gates-supports-wealth-tax-like-aoc-but-income-is-a-misfocus.html …
