Translating very direct instructions into a particular syntax is probably something that can be taught to anyone. "Write an if-else statement in Python that..." Sure. "Solve Fizzbuzz without having someone else do it for you" is much trickier, and you don't practice for it.

Yes, but one of the most important things a teacher than do is to MAKE you care. If they make the subject boring, that's their failure.

It's silly to default to blaming the student. It's silly to default to blaming the teacher. If you're making the claim that everyone can learn to do x, but you look around & see a bunch of people trying + failing to learn x, you sorta have to do one of those. But it's still silly

Maybe you’ve never held someone through their tears who’d sunk everything into a coding program, had been through several months of full-time instruction, had stayed late with the instructors at every opportunity, and just *couldn’t get it* like everyone else. I have. They exist.
