At the real higher end it can be nearly instant. Exposure to a simple program that uses enough parts to solve Fizzbuzz leads to sight decoding and then you can solve Fizzbuzz. Maybe the existence of variation in talent is also more obvious if you’ve experienced positive talent?

My model: talent wrt coding (& many other talents) is (1) access to a broad search space + (2) ability to efficiently traverse it. With experience, the search space should grow & search efficiency should improve, w/ chunkiness (& imposter syndrome) where one outpaces the other
