That's the case for nurse practitioner, physician assistants, and other mid-level providers. They can handle routine stuff and also recognize when something is above their pay grade.

In socialized healthcare in Sweden you ~never got to see a doctor. People routinely lie to get to meet someone beside overworked nurse. When I got to US I was stunned to get to meet a real doctor on my first visit. US system over .se any day even if incentives are skewed here too

It depends on your provider, but many are doing email, phone, telemedicine for this exact reason. But I’d argue the majority of your monthly premium is that you’re pre-paying for all the possible futures where that routine checkup becomes catastrophic and/or chronic illness
