Misdiagnoses and other fuckups are pretty common even with the existing 10-years >$200k doctors. (I think out of the last 10 things I went to a doctor for two were misdiagnosed.) Are you sure that's not just what hiring a verifiably competent person costs in our society?

Ideally we'd come up with a better way to assess competence than throwing more years of schooling at the problem. But I don't think we can really expect the outcome to be cheap, at least until we get AI doctors.

If you had modern technology and were inventing a medical industry from scratch, you would never, not ever, come anywhere close to our current one.
