The scarier thing is that this has been happening for decades, but we refuse to update our understanding of media and continue to consume it as if it’s factual information. Where’s Bayes Rule when you need it?

yeah, there's a strong contingent that really believes that corrections/facts that cut against the "true narrative" should be kept quiet — even if they're *actually true* they don't, um reflect... the true... truth? it's all very hand-wavey, patronizing, and manipulative
