I think investments in the present *can* be investments that compound for the future? eg I would prob spend a considerable sum boosting long term thinking, ambition & optimism levels of current people so that they build the tools of the future...

it is somewhat baffling to me how people make considerable money and don’t have fun with it.. I would fund a lot of cultural items, but also do things such as send books and gifts to every household and airdrop balloons on entire towns. surrealism breaks people out of cynicism.
