Usually, people don’t know that they have hangups, so there is no feedback.
People always have feedback on the behavior that’s affected by hangups though, right? And I think often they’ve identified a problem and have some knowledge about its features...?
But they cannot properly explain what motivates the behaviour, so there is no criticism of the underlying idea.
Yes, that’s why I’m asking what sort of thing it is — when you look at a “bias” like the planning fallacy, you can identify it + describe its features (consistently underestimating required time for familiar or similar-to-familiar tasks) w/o having knowledge req’d to address it
