Although it often seems to be largely about being weird in the way prescribed/accepted by the relevant ingroup, not really weird in a personal, idiosyncratic way. Conformism and signalling all around unfortunately.

That’s probably true but my critical scepticism about these kind of truths may also be a reason I perceive them that way, i.e. not sure if it‘s really desirable (although it certainly feels good) to be convinced of belonging to such ingroup.
