The continual praise of JUUL is disgusting. I can’t believe people buy the PR spin that it makes us healthier because “it’s not cigarettes.” A tiny % switch from cigarettes to something (maybe) marginally less harmful in exchange for re-addicting large swaths of the population.

Do you think if peeps got addicted to nicorette there would be the same level of outrage about the shift in nicotine delivery mode?
-
I was addicted to nicotine gum until about 4 months ago. It's not at all glamorous to have a wad of gum in your mouth all the time, so it's no surprise that it wouldn't really catch on with teens. But yeah, if there were a teen trend there I think it'd be concerning

Smoking is smelly; it clings to you; it's harsh and foul-tasting to newcomers. Vaping is widely accessible, immediately pleasurable and easy to hide. The market optimized nicotine delivery in a lot of ways, and it should be obvious that ease of use was one of them — not good

IMO nicotine and tobacco should be viewed as two separate substances. Nicotine is addictive, but not as addictive as tobacco. Nicotine has relatively few physical side effects, even with chronic use, whereas tobacco is deadly

Did you use vaping to get off cigs?
-
I smoked for a couple of years (sometimes more than a pack per day at peak) and then bounced between vaping, patches, and gum (mostly the latter) until I quite entirely about 4 months ago
