Is it a controversial statement? I pretty much tuned out all my classes and just read a ton on my own. It was basically a 5 year vacation (disclaimer, I was simultaneously studying MatSci, ChemE, and Econ) with a couple minor obligations and a debt-financed patina of legitimacy.
