Referring to the Atlantic article: thought it said only hetero sex rates were dropping off. I thought the relatively simple thesis that "women are more consistently avoiding bad sex" was a strong candidate for causation
Is it just assumed that there was more bad sex within heterosexual couplings than LGB ones?

From recollection, its conjectured from two main points: 1) the drop in sex is only occurring in hetero folk. 2) Sizable qualitative feedback from women about their experiences. I'd have to dig back into the article and its laundry list of factors to add more nuance
