Suppose a powerful Person A is helping a weaker Person B with their career in exchange for $1500/month. What circumstances, if any, need to be further specified for you to decide whether this is good or bad or nobody else’s business? (Subtweeting @robinhanson.)

Kind of! This lies near the crux of the issue. It's OK to ask a stripper to expose herself for money *in a strip club*. Do it at a bar the next day, and you might get slapped. If said stripper is one of your grad students, and you do it in the office, expect to be fired.

The degree to which intimacy can be transacted depends on both context/place AND individual choices. But should not be forced upon people as a static attribute of their person. Certainly, we should avoid creating systems of power that disenfranchise entire genders of that choice.
