I grew up watching that show, and found the recent doc on him pretty moving, mostly because of this. I understand now that my fav adults as a child were those who asked me real questions and took my answers seriously.

The dicotomy between immaturity and stupidity seems unclear to me. Wouldn't immaturity and ignorance be a better way of understanding the development of children?
He set a great example. Hopefully kids are able to watch his show to this day. I think its something that is still relevant
