I can't believe some of the code I see coming from people who hold CS master's degrees. Practical, directed experience in actually deploying applications is a really great solution.

Co ops are great. Univeristy of Waterloo does this very well, which is why their grads are highly sought after

I view university as a quest for knowledge - yes there should be more attractive trade-school type training for development work but I went to uni as a right of passage (lucky that didn't cost me an arm and a leg) and a way to learn more about the world - not just to get a job

Seriously they've already outclassed uni grads now. There is not point anymore

it wouldn't be school without group projects where you want to murder at least one person on your team. A perfect way to prepare for being a grown up with a real job!

I bet universities won't try to replicate! They're in it to teach kids how to learn not find jobs, pfft.

You obviously haven't looked at the structure of Lambda School if you think it's a 10 week crash course that only covers tools and templates.

The whole program is 30 weeks and part of the program covers algo, data structures, and CS fundamentals, which is the CS part of the program. The rest is focused on full stack web development, and now, 10 of those 30 weeks are focused on building real-world projects.
