I believe that some baseline welfare state is necessary to make people comfortable w having families despite the unavoidable volatility of a continuously evolving economy Unfortunately (-sigh-) there's not empirical support for this? But it would be SO convenient to not be wrong

I am very pro taking care of people for the sake of having them cared for, and I do think there are other positive community externalities derived from safety nets. I'm just disappointed that there seem to be fewer levers for natalism than one might think
And I also sort of amuse myself by discovering beliefs that contradict data *I already have*
