Yeah so...this is a pretty good textbook example of how NOT to interpret evidence about change in implicit biases as measured by the IAT.https://twitter.com/clairlemon/status/1064685124426461185 …

"results from four pre-registered experiments (N = 940) demonstrated that completing a Race IAT exacerbates the negative implicit attitudes that it seeks to assess."

These studies also have little relationship to how education about implicit bias happens outside of the lab. Changing implicit biases on measures like the IAT and teaching about implicit bias are completely different issues.

why would they work any better outside of a lab

Taking an IAT is different from an educational session about implicit bias. It's like the difference between getting your blood pressure taken and attending an educational session on what blood pressure is and what you can do about it.

correct me if I'm wrong but, there's no evidence that demonstrates the efficacy of implicit bias education sessions in reducing implicit bias?

Education about implicit bias doesn't reduce implicit bias, just as learning about dieting doesn't reduce weight. Evidence shows that bias education does change beliefs and arms people with strategies to prevent potential bias (eg, Forscher et al 2017, Carnes et al, 2015)

This seems arguably contradicted by the conclusions referenced in the abstract for your 2017 paper, no? "Together, these findings suggest that implicit bias is malleable, but that changing implicit bias does not necessarily lead to changes in explicit bias or behavior."pic.twitter.com/HwC0No6Zw1
